My truck once broke down 50 miles from nowhere

It happened in the middle of a hunting trip, and there was no cell service. I had to walk a long way before I finally found help. Ever since then, I’ve been obsessive about maintaining my truck.

That kinda thing will get you serious about getting your ride ready. I started keeping tools, fluids and a spare tire after being stuck on a dirt road all night, waiting for someone to come help me.

After a breakdown on a back road, I started carrying a small tool kit, tire plug kit and jumper pack in my vehicle. It’s surprising how many problems you can handle yourself with just some basic gear.

unfortunately with all the unneeded technology in todays cars and trucks, you cant jury rigging a fix for electrical components and parts..no more screw driver in the carb to hold the choke open...so if its a mechanical fix or simple broken wire then yes you can probably rig something up to get you back to a main road to call for help..
