Naming guns seems weird to me honestly

I see people naming their rifles and it feels odd. It's a tool, not a pet. I don't name my tools or my truck. What's the point? Someone explain why you do this because apparently lots of people do. What makes you want to name your guns?

I also don't name mine, but I get why folks do. I understand for some it is about remembering times.

I remember laughing at a buddy for naming his rifle until years later, when I realized one old shotgun had been through enough hunts with me that it almost earned one naturally.

Inamed mine after my dog passed and now it goes on every hunt. It makes zero logical sense and I completely understand why people do it.
