Mods that hurt gun's performance

I swapped to an ultra-light buffer trying to make my AR run softer. Instead it became over-gassed and unreliable. So I went back to standard and it ran perfectly again. Not every modification is an improvement, sometimes stock configurations are stock because they're optimized. That's a lesson to not fix what isn't broken...

 I spent a while trying to get softer recoil but all I really managed to do was chase one malfunction after another. When I finally just went back to a standard setup everything just started working exactly like it was supposed to.

I swapped springs and buffers around on one AR trying to smooth recoil and it immediately started short-stroking during range trips.

 I picked up that same lesson when I was trying to get a softer setup for something. All it did was cause new issues I hadn't had before. Sometimes leaving things exactly as they are is actually the best improvement.
