Took a trip to the upper Hudson River last weekend with a buddy to chase some smallmouths. Water was running a bit high but pretty clear, and the weather was nice, low 70s with a slight breeze. We threw some Texas-rigged worms and managed to land a few decent fish, but it wasn't a hot day by any means; lost a couple too when they wrapped around the rocks. Ended up with about four keepers each before calling it a day. Just another reminder to always check if you packed your snacks — I forgot mine and my buddy wouldn't stop eating those beef jerky sticks he brought. How's the bite in your area lately?

Just got back from Pt. Judith, RI. Six of us split two bluefin tuna (two tuna limit per boat) and I ended up with 11 lbs of boneless and skinless tuna steaks. After that we moved to fish for bonito and I caught a bluefish that I was pleased with, but the captain consided blues a "trash fish" and "too oily". Oh well. I was happy. It was bigger by half than any of the bonito we caught. I told the captain he was spoiled because he lived near the ocean. In the hills 200 miles from the ocean we appreciate ANY fresh fish.
