I have been messing around with off-grid comms recently and I've got some Baofengs, a GMRS radion and even tried basic HF to figure out what works, what are you guys using for off-grid that's actually worked for you in real-life situations

I've used GMRS radios and some inexpensive Baofengs on trips and they've always worked for me.

Garmin Rino's. Started using them when they first came out and upgraded every 4 or 5 years. We found that in big woods, nobody got lost, nobody ended up walking past the watch line because they didn't hit a watcher. Also easier to coordinate the next hunt without everyone having to group up. Usually that meant an extra hunt each day as a result of time saved.
